The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has said it will support any presidential aspirant that shows an intention to restructure the country.
According to the Secretary General of the association, Chief Sehinde Arogbofa, the group has no aspirant or political party to support presently because none of the aspirants has approached the association.
Arogbofa further explained that any aspirant that would enjoy the support of the group must show evidence of making restructuring a focal point of his administration.
He said, “We will look at them (aspirants) critically. We know those with military background, who will want to use that to cajole us. The aspirants are still coming up. It is when they all come out that we will sit down and choose one, but for now, the association has not taken any decision.
“Any aspirant that comes to us, we will ask him questions. During the time of (Goodluck) Jonathan, we decided to support him because he allowed the 2014 conference to hold and the report had been submitted to him to implement some of the recommendations if he won the election.
“Before we can support anybody, there must be concrete evidence that such aspirant will do restructuring when he gets to power.”
