ATLANTA – Gun safety advocates from around the country are gathering in Atlanta to discuss strategies to end gun violence.
More than 1,000 volunteer leaders of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America have congregated at an Atlanta hotel for a two-day conference called Gun Sense University.
The kickoff Friday morning included big-name supporters, like actress Julianne Moore and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, as well as survivors of gun violence.
The conference schedule is packed with courses to help organization leaders across the country learn to manage their local groups and effectively spread their message.
A common refrain was a push for group members to run for office and get involved with campaigns. A “Running for Office 101” training session Friday drew nearly four dozen people.
