Osun election: South-West APC targets regional domination

Ahead of the next month governorship election in Osun State, the South-West zone of the All Progressives Congress said that the party’s focus was to dominate the zone, saying a single party system would bring uniform development to the region.

In a communiqué signed by the Zonal Secretary of the party in the South-West, Ayo Afolabi, after its caucus meeting, which had in attendance the zonal chairman, Bankole Oluwajana, the party said its focus of discussion was how they would come out victorious in the Osun governorship election to complement its earlier victories recorded in Ondo and Ekiti states.

The party said after reviewing the just-concluded Ekiti election, it had already mapped out strategy on how to mobilise the people of Osun State and get their support, while also thanking Ekiti people for choosing APC candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, as their governor.

The communiqué read, “As far as the South-West caucus of the APC is concerned, we have a candidate for the election in Osun and we all have to support him to win the election. We therefore call on all party members to close rank to ensure victory at the poll.

“The caucus has directed all state chairmen of the party within the zone to get involved directly in the electioneering process to ensure the party’s victory that started in Ekiti, with the recent election of Dr Fayemi. We cannot afford to drop any of our South-West state to the opposition. Victory in the zone will aid uniform development.”

The APC in the zone said all stakeholders in the region would be given access to play important roles while also appealing to aggrieved members of the party in Osun State to give room for internal reconciliations in accordance with party guidelines.

“Continuous effort should be made to reach out to those who were dissatisfied with the primaries in Osun to retrace their steps, sheath their swords and work for the victory of our candidate, Gbenga Oyetola,” the communiqué added
